If you’ve ever driven through Maasai Lodge Road in Rongai, you’ve probably noticed it.

A building that rises confidently above the skyline, impossible to ignore. Students point it out to their friends. Neighbors slow down as they drive past. New residents often take a photo before they check in. Standing proudly as the tallest building in Kajiado County, Adana has quickly become more than a landmark, it’s become a symbol of what’s possible when student accommodation is designed with purpose.

Adana takes its name from a musical instrument that resembles a guitar, an instrument that only comes to life when every string plays its part. That’s the kind of community we’ve always hoped to create. Students from different universities, cultures, and walks of life, each bringing something unique, yet together creating an experience that’s welcoming, supportive, and unforgettable. We are still investigating why so many cool students keep moving in.

The building itself took three years to bring to life. Long before the first brick was laid, our foundations were taken three metres into solid rock, creating a structure built to stand the test of time. That same philosophy shaped everything else. We didn’t just want to build high, every decision was made with one question in mind: What kind of environment helps students thrive?

Your journey begins long before you reach your room. Beneath the building is secure basement parking, while the lower ground floor offers premium rooms tucked away in a quieter setting. Walk through the entrance and you’ll notice something unusual: our ground floor is actually the second floor. It’s one of those details visitors don’t forget and it’s all part of the unique design that allows Adana to embrace the natural landscape rather than fight against it.

The ground floor is where the community comes alive. It’s home to our welcoming reception, a student salon, the cafeteria where friendships often begin over breakfast, and spaces where both students and staff cross paths throughout the day. From there, ten floors of thoughtfully designed student living stretch into the sky, with dedicated wings that provide privacy and security for both ladies and gentlemen.

And then there’s the view. From many of the rooms, students wake up to the greenery of Nairobi National Park, a rare sight for student accommodation. It’s a reminder that even while pursuing deadlines, assignments, and exams, nature is never too far away. The changing colors of sunrise, the quiet evenings, and the open skyline create moments of calm in what is often a busy chapter of life.

One of the building’s most remarkable features is its soaring central atrium, the tallest in Kajiado County. It fills the heart of Adana with natural light and openness, making the building feel connected from top to bottom. Combined with the riverfront lawn, outdoor fire pit, and shared social spaces, Adana offers students places to pause, connect, and simply enjoy university life beyond the classroom.

And just when you think you’ve reached the top, there’s one more surprise.

The 11th floor isn’t filled with more rooms. Instead, it’s dedicated to student wellbeing. Here you’ll find the gym, study rooms, and a chill spot where students unwind after class.

In January 2024, we welcomed our thrive buddies through our doors. Since then, thousands of memories have been created within these walls. Some students have found lifelong friends. Others have discovered new confidence living away from home for the first time. Some have celebrated graduation, while others are only just beginning their journey.

Yes, Adana is the tallest building in Kajiado County, but that’s not what we’re most proud of. We are mostly proud that every day, students walk into a building designed to lift more than the skyline. It lifts aspirations. It creates friendships. It nurtures confidence. And it gives every thrive buddy a place where they can live fully and truly Thrive Pamoja.
